Camille Fischer is a Frank Stanton Fellow working on EFF’s free speech and government transparency projects. Camille came to EFF from D.C. where she worked in the Obama White House and in the Department of Commerce advocating for civil, human rights, and due process protections in national security and law enforcement policies. She also ran projects to increase consumer security and privacy, like the move to chip cards (sorry not sorry), and has war stories about ECPA Reform, MLATs, and encryption. Camille graduated from Georgetown University Law Center and the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs). She takes pics and bakes pies.
Stephanie is the resident Information Security Analyst for a global law firm. She is the creator and editor of StephAndSec.com, a blog focused on technology, inclusion and lifetime learning. She spends her time mentoring high school students, hosting virtual labs via Women In Tech-a-thons, is a WISP DEFCON Scholarship Lead (last year she was a recipient, this year she’s a lead!), Chapter Head for WoSEC Houston, and giving back to the community.
Cindy brings over 20 years of professional IT and security experience at her $dayjob. She has been actively involved within the information security community for over a decade, and volunteers her time by leading the registration team for BSides Las Vegas (in addition to her role on the BSides Las Vegas Board of Directors), and embraces her role as Workshops 2IC Goon for both DEF CON as well as DEF CON China.
Michele Schochet leads teams responsible for the building of tools that protect Facebook’s corporate information assets and enable the secure growth of the Facebook community and company by empowering the workforce to move fast, securely and at scale. In her words “Maintaining the technical connection with the engineers on my teams while being able to see the big picture and how we enable growth and scalability has continued to be a key focus for me throughout my career. One of my biggest challenges has been striking the work life balance as I raise my son who is now 13 years old and far more intelligent and charismatic than I ever could be. That said, maintaining this balance has enabled me to contribute positively in both spaces and I bring this philosophy to the teams that I work on and with. At the end of the day, we come from a place of good intent and diversity of thought leadership in the workplace is a core tenet that I embrace as Facebook grows and I’m a piece of that!”
